Help Wanted!!!
      Seeking Photographs

I'm building a HO scale railroad layout of the Maine Central
Railroad in Eastport and I am seeking photographs of the 1930 -
1940's era of both Sea Street and the Washington Street yard.

I especially am interested in photos of steam engines and
passenger cars that were used in the 1930's.

I appreciate your help

                                          Quoddy Village

I have acquired numerous photographs of Quoddy Village from 1943. My
parents met at the village in 1943 and I am interested in finding out more about
what transpired in the village during those years it was part of the National Youth
Adminsitration. I have done some extensive internet research and seem to have
reached an end point. It is my hope that there might be some individuals who
might have some recollection of the village. I realize that most who were part of
the village in the 1940s would have passed away, as my parents have. However,
it is possible that there are some, like myself, who have might have had some of
this history passed on to them in one form or another.
I noticed that "On the Waterfront" has a newsletter. Might it be possible to write
an article for the newsletter or place an appeal within it for more information?
Also. Is there a newspaper that still exists today that was also present in the
1940s that might have archived its issues or an archive  of the city of Eastport
and/or surrounding towns that might prove helpful?
I want you to know that I am a serious researcher. Currently I am enrolled in the
Masters of Library and Information Science program, with a special interest in
Archiving, at Kent State University in Ohio.
One idea I have is to initiate a Quoddy Village Memory Project. I have names
and home towns of some of the men my father came into contact with while at
Quoddy Village. The states mentioned are Maine, Rhode Island and Mass as
well as numeous individuals from NY city. I have included attachments of some
photos for your viewing.
You might help me intially by describing the current state of the village and its
ownership and any people or organizaitions still connected to the buildings who
might have some information of the villages history.
FYI , I was referred to your ogranizaition by the Maine Historical Society.
The photo of 4 individuals contains the first photograph of my parents together
(od the right) and the one with the propeller show my father top right.
Any help you can give me,no matter how small would be greatly appeciated.

I have #78 Eastport Scrip valued at $0.50 and

in her belongings.

Can anyone tell me more about it?

To Whom it May Concern

I am not sure that you can help me but, as the saying goes-nothing ventured,
nothing gained.  So, here goes.

Would you have any information regarding the marriage records of a Benjamin
French and a lady named Jane whose last name is unknown to me.  The
marriage probably would have taken place approximately 1833-1835.  As well, I
am interested in the marriages of John French (son of Benjamin) and Eliza
Margaret (or Margaret Eliza) Hooper (dated 1865) and Frederick Frye and Pearl
(Lillian) French (daughter of John French.) (date 1989).  These couples resided
in the Back Bay, Charlotte County area.

Census records according to John and another son Darius, indicate that
Benjamin was born in the USA.  However the 1851 census records state that
Benjamin was born in Canada, New Brunswick.  Who knows.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.  Please let me knbow if there is a fee
for this service.

                                                                                          Sincerely

Hello,

I'd like to find more descendants of Ashbel / Ashabel and Percissa /
Persis (KNIGHT) RICE and their many children. The couple was
originally from MA and went to "Maine" after the Rev. War. They then
spent ~10 years in Digby, Nova Scotia, and returned ~1800 to live in
Lubec. I believe descendants still live in the area today.

My great-great-grandfather, Charles W. RICE, was born in Lubec in
1850, the youngest of 10 children of Daniel and Lucy (McDANIEL)
RICE. Charles came down to MA ~1872 and married near Boston
~1875. They separated after the births of their 2 daughters, so ~1879.

No one in the family has a picture of Charles, and I would love to find
out what he looked like. We do have a picture of his wife and his 2
daughters. One daughter inherited part of the large HUTCHINSON
Farm in Winchester, MA, during the 1930's. I lived there as a child, so
I'm familiar with that part of the family.

If I could see a picture of one of Charles' brothers, I could get an idea
of what he looked like. I'm trying to find descendants of his married
sister and her McNEAR family. They also lived near Boston and he
remained close to them.

My mother and assorted relatives on her side
were born/died in Eastport, ME. Her maiden
name was Eleanore E. Cheverie. Does anyone
have any genealogical information that they
would wish to share with me? Both of my
parents are deceased.

Hi, I have a couple of old postcards showing the United Wireless station (interior
and exterior) in the 1910-1912 period at Eastport, Maine. I wonder if your society
has any information on this station? I know it was part of a network of stations
extending down the east coast to Florida and was used to contact coastal
vessels with weather, business, and emergency info. I would like to know exactly
when the station was built and when it went out of service and it's exact location.
In the town. If you don't have copies of these post cards I'd be glad to scan them
and email them to you. Any info you could share with me would be appreciated.
